We have been doing a lot of work in Room 13, thinking about our emotions and those of others. We know there are a range of emotions and they are all necessary and valuable, but we definitely like being Happy and Joyful the best!
Sometimes things don’t go your way, but everything is still okay, when you’re HAPPY!

This week, Room 13 have been writing to describe Mr and Mrs Grinling, from the Lighthouse Keeper’s Picnic. We have been putting our stories into Google Gemini AI, and generating images to see how well we have described the characters.

It is so lovely to be back together after the holidays for Term 3.
We are learning about our emotions this term and how we can make choices that affect a Positive Difference on the world around us, even if it is just starting small in the classsroom.
Our Homework competition is back up and running, due to popular demand.

We have been having so much fun in Room 13 learning Maths with Numicon. We have number shapes, rods, pegs and a baseboard and can make numbers in so many different ways.

In Room 13 this year we have a lot of self-motivated learners who want to continue learning at home!
We are having a homework competition this term, to earn prizes which will be given out in the last week of Term 2.
In case your child loses their homework worksheet, I will link them on our Class Blog each week – just scroll through for the two pages attached to their group. Their homework is differentiated a little based on their Reading groups. Homework is given out and collected in each Wednesday.

Welcome back to school for 2025!
We have had a busy start to the year, learning our routines and expectations in Team 3.
This term we are learning about ourselves and each other, with our focus question: Who am I and what brings me joy?
Our school value for this year is JOY – Koakoa mai, Koakoa atu. We will be finding joy through our own learning successes as well as in celebrating the successes of others.
As part of our learning around The Treaty of Waitangi, Room 13 collaborated to create our own Class Treaty – a set of rules for us to try and live by to create a happy and safe learning environment for us all at school. Here’s a copy for you to check out!
